Happy Year Of The Snake!
It's almost that time of year, folks. That time when my people in Asia do some serious spring cleaning, pay off debt and buy new outfits for when get together for reunion dinners.
I'm talking about the Chinese Lunar New Year, and this year is the year of the Snake! This also means I'm one year away from my year (I'm a horse) and arriving at my mid-30's. I'll keep the freak-out private.
This year, I'll be celebrating with some friends at Chinatown Restaurant here in Nashville. They're offering an 8-course dinner that serves 8 - 10 people for $289.00. The menu has some of my favorites like a whole roast duck, a whole fried fish, and Tang Yuan for dessert. This will be new to some, and just a different experience for others but overall, I think we're going to have a blast.
If you haven't already been to Chinatown, please do go. People always ask me if there's authentic Chinese food in Nashville. Before I learned about the updates at Chinatown, I'd direct people to the weekend (only) buffet at Golden Coast. Well, now you can get authentic Chinese seven days a week.
So far I've had the roast duck (delicious), the ma po tofu (above, so damn good) and the Taiwanese Braised Pork (below). It's enough that I'm not going to be homesick as often.
If you're seeking good Chinese food, this is the place I recommend.
Here's wishing you a wonderful, prosperous new year! Gong Xi Fa Cai!
