Mini Golf at the Band Box!
When I first moved here a long time ago (way before the rest of the country decided Nashville was cool) there was a rather sad, run down but still fun mini golf place out in Bellevue. It's gone now, and the only other putt putt place I know of is in, like, Rivergate or something so I don't venture out there much.
Enter The Country Club at The Band Box! A 9-hole mini golf course at the Nashville Sounds stadium that's super fun and, I'll be honest, kind of hard but that's part of the fun right? The neatest part is the course is a collaboration between The Nashville Sounds, OZ Arts Nashville, Strategic Hospitality, and The Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville to not only create a fun addition to an already cool area at the stadium, but to incorporate local artists that provided custom art for each hole. It's all interactive (as miniature golf should be) and the artists' creations were nicely worked in. Artists include Isle of Printing's Bryce McCloud (watch the video for his work) and, my favorite hole #9, Fishboy based on a book by Cory Basil and sculpture by Brian Somerville.
I do tip my hat to Max Goldberg's attention to detail with using quality putters like Odyssey (a personal favorite, I use the 2-ball for golf) and Ping, and Titleist balls in various colors. I played yellow, obvs.
My golf short game leaves a lot to be desired and this was once again proven as I tried my hand at playing. Unless they were all par 5's in which case I nailed it. For more about the Band Box visit Nashville Guru. But next time you're there for a Sounds game, go experience it for yourself and take the art in! You can play up to 4 per group, and it's $5 per person to play during games and stadium hours.
